Aaron A. Nelson, Keith A. Belzer Selected as Super Lawyers

Aaron A. Nelson and Keith A. Belzer have been selected by Super Lawyers as top-rated criminal defense attorneys in Hudson, Wisconsin, for 2024. This is the 14th year in a row that Aaron has received this honor, in addition to four prior recognitions as a Rising Star attorney. Keith’s selection marks his 20th year as a Super Lawyer.

Only the top five percent of attorneys receive the Super Lawyer designation each year. Aaron and Keith’s continuous recognition demonstrates their commitment to providing Wisconsin residents charged with serious criminal offenses with the comprehensive defense they need.

The Super Lawyers Selection Process

To earn recognition as a Super Lawyer, attorneys undergo a rigorous selection process involving nominations, independent research, peer evaluation, and final selection. Ultimately, the top five percent of attorneys in each practice area receive the Super Lawyer designation.

Additionally, the top two and a half percent of attorneys under 40 or who have been practicing law for less than ten years receive the Rising Star designation.

Here’s how the Super Lawyers selection process works:

  • Nominations – Attorneys enter the candidate pool through peer nominations, third-party feedback, or Super Lawyers research team identification.
  • Independent Research – The research team conducts independent research on each candidate, considering criteria such as their verdicts/settlements, experience, professional activity, and client feedback.
  • Peer Evaluation – Candidates who scored the highest in the previous phase move on to the peer evaluation phase, where other recognized attorneys within each practice area evaluate them.
  • Final Selection – A representative number of attorneys from small, medium, and large law firms receive the Super Lawyer or Rising Star designation, recognizing their achievements in their respective fields of law.

From Rising Star to Super Lawyer

Aaron Nelson received Rising Star designations in 2006, 2007, 2009, and 2010 before graduating into the primary Super Lawyer candidate pool. He has now received the award every year from 2011 to 2024, a 14-year run that speaks to the consistently high quality of legal representation he provides to criminal defense clients throughout Wisconsin.
